Recently, we had a graduate reach out to us to ask how she could personally thank the supporters and donors who made her stay at Mercy possible. In 2010, Sara came to Mercy seeking freedom from the abuse, addictions, anxiety and depression she had endured. Her life was changed because of you, and five years later, you are still on her mind:
"Words cannot express how grateful I am for your unconditional love and support to me, a complete stranger. While at Mercy, the girls and I prayed for you before every meal. We never took your generosity for granted.
To think that someone would invest financially into me—a girl who had done shameful things, turned from God, and believed her life wasn't worth fighting for—made no sense. Your giving proved to me that unconditional love does exist and that I was worth receiving it.
It will be five years this April that I first walked through the doors of Mercy, and every time I recall my days there, I always tear up when someone asks "How is it that Mercy was free of charge for you?" I then get to tell them about you. From the bottom of my heart, thank you!!!"
