Charlotte Scanlon-Gambill Shares a Message of Freedom in St. Louis

2Over the years, Nancy Alcorn, founder of Mercy Ministries, has developed a very dear friendship and sisterhood with Senior Associate Pastor Charlotte Scanlon-Gambill of Abundant Life Church in Bradford England. They have spoken at conferences together around the world and Charlotte has come alongside to help birth and support Mercy in the UK. This past Wednesday, Mercy Ministries St. Louis residents and staff were honored to host Charlotte as their special guest and they found her humor and enthusiasm to be infectious!

Charlotte is also the director of the Cherish Foundation that seeks to help children and adults with neurological conditions, diseases, and injuries. She has also authored several books including her most recent book, In Her Shoes, which challenges readers to explore what life would be like if they exchanged shoes with the hurting, lost or orphaned people of this world.

Charlotte is passionate about reaching the hurting and broken and equipping people to minister to those in need. She encouraged the Mercy girls to find true freedom through loving others and connecting with the reason we are on this planet. She asked the residents this question, “What are you allowing to lead your life?” Emphasizing that loving others as you love yourself is an act of freedom, she explained that a free spirit is incompatible with selfishness.

Charlotte also spent some time encouraging the St. Louis staff and challenging them to be a “whistle blower” in their personal and professional lives by learning their limits and making time to rest. A very special thanks to Charlotte, who travels the world, for taking time to stop by and impart Godly wisdom to our girls and staff.

Sydnie said, “The Holy Spirit enables me to live life free from chains of emotions and feelings. I’m so glad Charlotte came and talked with us. It was great!”

Lindsay said, “Charlotte has such passion and understanding for the things of God that captivate my attention every time! What an amazing example she is!”

Mandie said, “I’m choosing freedom during my last month at Mercy and I will continue to choose freedom after I graduate. God is truly working in my life!”
