A Weekend at the Lake

This past weekend, friends of Mercy Ministries, Jim and Marla Husky invited our Nashville residents and staff to make a road trip to Cookeville, Tennessee to visit their lake house on Center Hill Lake. This annual lake house weekend is always a special opportunity for the girls to get out and enjoy some recreation. They have a blast swimming in the pool, relaxing in the hot tub, riding in the boat, tubing, hiking, and enjoying nature. Other residents spend time journaling, watching movies or playing board games!

This year, some of the residents introduced themselves to the Husky’s and their friends by sharing their testimonies about what brought them to Mercy Ministries and what God has done in their lives since being at Mercy. After a day of fun and excitement on the water, they spent the evenings in a time of praise and worship followed by staff-led devotions. The girls absolutely love this opportunity to enjoy a weekend at the lake! Here is what some of the girls had to say about their weekend retreat:

Beth said, “My time at the lakehouse was awesome! As it got dark, I laid on my back staring at the sky and literally watched the stars come out. I could feel God’s presence.”

Katie said, “My tubing experience was wonderful! It was a blast and for the first time in a while, I felt fully alive.”

Jess said, “I do not even like the water but I decided to push myself out of my comfort zone and try tubing. I had a blast! I really enjoyed my time alone with God in His creation.”

Bethany said, “I went on a long hike that was quite a challenge, but so much fun to get out and enjoy nature!”

We would like to thank Jim and Marla Husky for their generosity in sharing their beautiful lake house with us over the years and creating such memorable experiences for our residents!
